Meet the man behind the Bar...
Longtime restauranteur Judd Byrnes brings creative American fare downtown to Tyler Street
If you’ve been to Judd’s, chances are you’ve seen him behind the bar mixing drinks, at the front greeting the crowds, floating from table to table entertaining guests – or a blur doing a combination of all three before you even get your menu.
An East Texas native, Judd graduated from Longview High school and then went on to attend The University of North Texas to study Biology. Life brought him into the bar and restaurant business 26 years ago and the dream to work for himself turned into opportunities for growth including the former downtown favorite Willy G’s Bar and Grill.
The vision for this space is to create a downtown anchor for longview residents to come and enjoy with anyone at any time. Whether it’s lunch with the family, Saturday brunch with the girls, or an evening drink with a special someone, you’ll find a seat at Judd’s.
When not at the restaurant Judd enjoys spending time with his wife of 22 years, Tammy and sons Colby and Preston when they’re home from attending the University of Texas at Austin.

Judd’s Downtown celebrated a soft opening on New Year’s Eve, with a restaurant at 117 E. Tyler St. that will feature Saturday brunch, appetizers, steaks, salads, sandwiches, pasta, fish tacos, a children’s menu and a full-service bar.
Longview resident and restaurateur Judd Byrnes and his business partner Tommy Chacko opened the restaurant, which also features well-known local chef Ronald Porter.
“Ronald’s well known in the area. Ronald will have a number of things on the menu and specials every day …” Chacko said. “Ronald is a trained pastry chef, so we’ll be highlighting his pastries all day.”
